From a Report by a Russian Non-Profit Organization "For Human Rights"

Russian Justice as Instrument of Political Repressions

BRIEF RECORD

March 2010

"This report is based on appeals and analytical materials received by the Movement, and information published by journalists, public and political organizations. We immediately note that in this report we don’t consider a question of mass fabrication of repressions, including extrajudicial killings, many examples of which we know.

Political repressions continue unabated in the Russian Federation; a number of political prisoners (those who has never resorted to violence and called for it, and has been imprisoned for their beliefs, political and public activities) or people whose persecution is reasoned by intention of state authorities and officials to strengthen their positions and control over different spheres of life, according to different estimates, reaches 200 persons. Several dozen are under investigation at the present time, or are on probation.

We consider unfair and unlawful decisions of courts (or investigation agencies), in case if they are made in the interests of a state authority or department, or for a misinterpret “benefit of the State”, being, meanwhile, a manifestation of political corruption of Justice. Russian Human Rights activists consider political prisoners not only victims of authorized repressions against oppositionists and dissidents, but victims of political corruption...

The examples of persecutions of religious dissidents are… persecution of bishop of the Russian Orthodox Autonomous Church Grigoriy (V.M. Luriye) for that he doesn’t belong to the Patriarchate of Moscow. Moreover, law-enforcement agencies dared to decide what relics are authentic!"
